Unusual 1957-1972 chrome 3-slot payphone telephone. A.E. Companies rendering of a coin-return button on an old-fashioned coin gage. Old yellow-gold accessories, original chrome, bottom door, lock and key. Both keys. Armored cord. The top is extremely nice, the sides ond the bottom have signs of oxidation but are generally shiny. Can be used as an extension phone. Never meant to ring when called. Coins ding and dong as dropped through. Code plate on top says: "LPB=85=55. The only new ore repro parts we are aware of are the top-housing key and possibly some wires inside. The yellow-gold parts are not painted; they are old original-type parts originally mfgd in gold-yellow color.

Rarish 1948 A.E. 3-slot payphone. No name engraved in usual place above the door. Indications are that this is a transition phone, made just after the sale of the Gray Mfg Co to AE. Payphone advertisements by AE were show this way in 1948. There is a possibility that it may have been shallowly engraved but ground off or/and filled in at the time it was chrome plated but I didn't want to destroy the nice chrome to find out. So this then represents a transitional item and is seld seen (1 out of 2 or 3 thousand payphones). The only repro item known is the key. A 1970s network inside provides reliable transmission and reception. It wasn't meant to ring. Old locking door with 2 keys.
